Polipropileno del Caribe S. A. Propilco completes its commercial registration as a company dedicated to the production and commercialization of polypropylene.

Our Origin 1990

We began operations with the commissioning of Polypropylene Plant 1, with Unipol technology. In 2025, we celebrate 35 years!

Its initial capacity was 120,000 metric tons per year. Currently it is 250,000 metric tons per year.

COMAI Ltda is founded, a subsidiary company dedicated to the production of polypropylene compounds, color masterbatches and additives.

Due to the increased demand for polypropylene from our clients, in 1996 we expanded production capacity by 20,000 metric tons per year.

We invested in a second production line.

We began operations of our second polypropylene production plant with Novolen technology (Plant 2), with an initial capacity of 180,000 metric tons per year.

We expanded the capacity of our plant with Unipol technology (Plant 1) by 60,000 metric tons per year.

Splitter 2007

Splitter 2007

We began operations of the propylene separation unit "Splitter", which enabled us to start sourcing national raw materials, positively impacting growth and reliability in resin supply to our clients.

Ecopetrol Group 2008

Ecopetrol Group 2008

We expanded the plant with Novolen technology, increasing its capacity by 200,000 metric tons per year.

We became part of the Ecopetrol Business Group.

We expanded Plant 1 by 50,000 metric tons per year. The plant's capacity reaches 450,000 metric tons per year.

We expanded Plant 2 by 50,000 metric tons per year. The plant reaches a capacity of 500,000 metric tons per year.

Propilco becomes Esenttia, a company vital to the industry and essential to life. We integrate our products and subsidiaries (Comai) into three product lines that constitute a comprehensive offering: Polypropylene, Polyethylene, and Masterbatch.

Esenttia Resinas Perú 2016

Esenttia Resinas Perú 2016

We created Esenttia Resinas Perú. We crossed borders with the creation of our first office abroad to continue contributing to sustainable development in Latin America.

We donated six docks made from plastic waste around Manga Bay in Cartagena.

Social Impact Initiative: Cartagena Collection Center

We developed a social entrepreneurship initiative, a collection center for recyclable waste where, in an organized manner and highlighting the recycler's craft, waste is managed for the construction of elements such as houses, bridges, and recreational spaces for children.

In alliance with the Mayor's Office of Cartagena, we donated two signs made from recycled plastic to the city, located in two areas: on Santander Avenue, near Marbella, and on the Perimetral road; sending a message of plastic waste recycling and social inclusion.

Plastic Houses 2018

We fulfilled the dream of families by donating 10 houses made from recycled plastic for 10 employees of our contractor firms. Thus we recovered approximately 29,000 kg of plastic waste.

We provided comfort to Cartagena's mass transit system. We donated recycled plastic pergolas that support the roof of all stations in the TransCaribe integrated mass transit system.

In 2019, we donated an environmental innovation classroom, in alliance with Celsia and Traso Colectivo de Transformación Social, for the Madre Gabriela de San Martín Educational Institution, located in the Olaya Herrera neighborhood of Cartagena de Indias.

Honoris Cultura / BASC Certification 2022

Honoris Cultura / BASC Certification 2022

• The Honoris Cultura was recognized by the Colombian Security Council, thanks to our interdependent culture in HSE.
• The BASC certification accredits control work in all production processes, packaging, shipping, and transport of cargo destined for abroad, guaranteeing that the cargo has no possibility of contamination (contraband and drugs) at any stage.

We expand our borders to actively connect with the Mexican industry, strengthening our presence and strategic participation in the country. This great step adds to our global milestones in innovation, where together with various partners we implemented the first advanced chemical recycling pilot in Latin America, achieving the production of the first circular polypropylene.

First Recycled Plastic Resins Plant 2024

First Recycled Plastic Resins Plant: in Tocancipá, we inaugurated our first recycled plastic resins plant, the largest in Colombia and the most sophisticated in Latin America. A milestone in Colombia! Its initial annual production capacity is 12,000 tons and benefits more than 10,000 professional recyclers.
